North Carolina…Farm to Table and Loving the Outdoors
I am officially back in California after a wonderful long weekend in North Carolina! Going into this trip, I was not sure what to expect with my being such a beach/Cali girl, but I absolutely loved this part of the country. Of course it was amazing to spend so much time with my little sister and family, but it was also amazing to see the beauty and lifestyle of this state. I do apologize for the lack of post yesterday; I was super busy wrapping up my trip and soaking up every last bit of the beauty I could. I am sharing parts of my exploring below. After this, we are back to business with our fitness and nutrition!
One of the things I loved was the whole ‘farm to table’ approach taken. It is so rare you actually go to a store to buy fruit and vegetables; instead, you go to your closest farm (or the farm that may be known for the specific item you want!) and purchase what is needed. Everything is so fresh and tasty – it also tastes better knowing you are helping your local farming economy. ♥ PS, the jars above is jam and salsa my sister made! So yummy!
There are so many water falls just 5 minutes from my sisters house. It makes for the perfect hike to have these views as your destination!
Of course, I also took some time for some runs through the local parks!
I love trips like this where I get to be outside and moving! It makes it so enjoyable to see so much while burning calories. Now that I am home though, it is back to the gym and trails to begin kicking into full gear for training for my next race. More to come soon!
To being fit and fashionable, Christyn
